24 hours in Belgium

In June, my BFFSling visited me before taking a train into Bavaria for a music training program. Having a few extra days and wanting to say that we had been to more countries, we decided to take a bus to Brussels, Belgium for 24 hours.

No strangers to kitschy trips together, [i.e. the Salem Witch Museum visit, Fall 2011?] Sling and I decided that priority number one in Brussels was a little place called MiniEurope, a theme park/village sort of place containing miniature replicas of all the famous buildings in the European Union.

No, really.

This is a miniature replica of MiniEurope... apparently a little too meta for me.

We took as many lame photographs as was humanly possible until MiniEurope closed. We also didn't realize that in the background of a lot of our photos was something called the Atomium(?), a structure built for the 1958 World Fair that was recently named by CNN as Europe's most bizarre building.

The next morning, because we were champions and had planned the day full of "Belgian" specialties, we started the day with a brewery tour, then progressed to a bit of waffle-eating and accidentally found a palace...oops, went to an art museum, and then ended the day with a chocolate museum before getting back on the bus to Bonn.

No big deal, just me being the EU flag.
